WHAT ARE GOALS ???π₯
Assalamualaikum and hay everyone. This week I learnt about management system.Okay, what is goals? According to my understanding, goals mean target. Our target, such as want to be a doctor, want to explore world, and especially this, want to be successful in our life. Majority all the students want to be a successful student in their life right?? πGoal settings consist of three items.
- What we want to achieve-we need to set our goal on what we want to achieve
- Set new goals-we must have new goals after others goals was achieved
- Writing effective-we need to write our goals so we can understand and focus on what we want to reach.
GOAL STATEMENT
Goal statement is your target, which is what you want to reach in your life. With goal statement, we can motivate ourselves to be more confident in our work.
GOAL STATEMENT SHOULD BE:
- GOALS SHOULD BE SELF-CHOSEN
-Goal that are set by our parents, teachers,or friends may not always work for us because only we know what we like.
-We need to determine or choose our own goals
-We need to decide what we want to accomplish. If we set our own goals,we will be more motivated to achieve them
- GOALS SHOULD BE MODERATELY CHALLENGING
-One way to set moderately challenging goals is to consider what we have done in the past
-Goals can always be revised,if we discover we can achieve more than we originally set out to accomplish
- GOALS SHOULD BE REALISTIC
-Think about whether our goals are attainable.Ex:it will be unrealistic to expect to get a B or better in Calculus if our Math background is very weak and our high school grades in Math were never higher than a C
-To set realistic goals,we must carefully evaluate our chances of achieving each goal
- GOALS SHOULD BE MEASURABLE
-A goal is measurable if we can determine whether we reached it
-It would be difficult to determine whether we achieved our goal if we just wanted to 'do well in a course
-It will be easier to measure our success if we had aimed for an A or a B
- GOALS SHOULD BE SPECIFIC
-The more specific our goals are, the more motivated we'll be to achieve them
-Ex:Getting a B in College Algebra is a specific goal while getting a "good grade"in College Algebra is not
- GOALS SHOULD BE FINITE
-Meaning here is that we can set a time frame in reaching our goals. We know when we will end and when will start again
-Can discipline ourselves
- GOALS SHOULD BE POSITIVE
-Negative goal statements to make we feel that we can't really be successful, they aren't motivating
-Ex:"I don't want to get any lower than a C in any of my classes,"I won't go to dinner until I get this calculus work done".
-We'll always do better if we are working toward something-when we have a positive attitude
-Avoid using words like try, think, and hope when we describe our goals
FIVE STEP APPROACH TO SETTING GOALS
STEP 1: TENTATIVE GOAL STATEMENT
-Ex:I want at least a B in Biology
STEP 2:LIST OF OBSTACLES
-Ex:I have trouble following the lecture, and I struggle to take notes
STEP 3:LIST OF RESOURCES
-Ex:I'll read the chapter before the lecture.I'll rewrite my notes afterward
STEP 4:REVISED GOAL STATEMENT
-Ex:I'll try to earn a B in Biology
STEP 5:POLISHED GOAL STATEMENT
-Ex:I will achieve a B in Biology this semester
